SOGGYBOTTOM RIDERS

A small group of country folk gathered at Ohio University in a classroom, one cold and rainy night.  Together they formed the Lawrence County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman's Council.  That was December 1999.
LCOHC has become strong in number and participate in many events throughout the year.  Our biggest event to date is the St. Jude Children's Hospital Benefit Ride.  Done each Spring for the past four years, we've ridden and we've collected thousands of dollars for this wonderful charity.  Another biggie is the Wagon Train Ride. Three days of riding throughout Lawrence County, via horseback or wagon. We also work with the Wayne National Forest in Ironton to maintain the trails and the camp at Paddle Creek.
This group has one thing in common (among others) and that is the love of horses and the people who ride 'em.
The State OHC Motto remains:  "Horsemen Helping Horsemen".  That's what we do.

From The Prez

It took us five tries, but in spite of heavy rain on July 4th we had a great weekend. The campground was full, both with club members and visitors. Our Saturday night cookout was delicious . Lots of good food and oh so good deserts. Special thanks to Angie Todd for cooking us up those good hotdogs and burgers. We were joined by family and friends, also, Wayne Nat. Forest Rangers Marsha Wilkes and Scott Means came to eat with us bringing a tasty watermelon to share.Tammy we missed you so much . Lois took your place and fell off her horse when it jumped a downed tree. We hope she is feeling better . She say’s hurry back .Our prayers were answered when Janet Jackson’s horse recovered from what we though was a very serious case of colic. May he continue to improve.Jerry Elliott, rattlesnake in a bag, NICE SURPRIZE. You won’t be forgotten.

Our next meeting will be July 14 , 2008 at 7:00 p.m. , at the Snak Shak in South Point

Our speaker will talk about large animal rescue.

May the HORSE be with you!
