SOGGYBOTTOM RIDERS

A small group of country folk gathered at Ohio University in a classroom, one cold and rainy night.  Together they formed the Lawrence County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman's Council.  That was December 1999.
LCOHC has become strong in number and participate in many events throughout the year.  Our biggest event to date is the St. Jude Children's Hospital Benefit Ride.  Done each Spring for the past four years, we've ridden and we've collected thousands of dollars for this wonderful charity.  Another biggie is the Wagon Train Ride. Three days of riding throughout Lawrence County, via horseback or wagon. We also work with the Wayne National Forest in Ironton to maintain the trails and the camp at Paddle Creek.
This group has one thing in common (among others) and that is the love of horses and the people who ride 'em.
The State OHC Motto remains:  "Horsemen Helping Horsemen".  That's what we do.

Charlie and Sarah's secret life

When Ohio Governor Strickland spotted Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitt at a recent social gathering of the movers and shakers of Ohio society. He rushed right over to have a picture taken with them.

Charlie and Sarah sure clean up good, don't they?

From the Prez

How are you doing with this on again off again summer. We have had so much rain I think I am growing fins. So far most of our rides have had low to no riders attend . Jim and I, have not been riding due to the rain and deep mud. On a good note we had a fair amount of members come to the JUNE meeting, we had a cookout before the meeting, members brought lots of good food to share . We had our meeting after we ate . It was decided that the club would purchase plates, napkins, forks, and spoons, for the 4th of July ride at Lake Vesuvius. Members will bring other side dishes and deserts to share. Lois Delawder is bringing the sauce, Susan White the buns, and I will bring the hotdogs. Come ride with us , both or just one day. Even if you do not want to ride come Saturday evening and eat with us. We will try to eat around 5:00 or 6:00 p. m. .

Our next meeting will again be at South Point Municipal Park on July 13, at 7:00 p.m.. Come early and bring a drink and chips , and ,we will eat a bite during the meeting. If you have any horse related items we could raffle off bring them, we made about 87 dollars last month on just a few items. Any money we make will help build our funds to buy for familys at Christmas, and postage for the great newsletter we get every month.
