SOGGYBOTTOM RIDERS


A small group of country folk gathered at Ohio University in a classroom, one cold and rainy night.  Together they formed the Lawrence County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman's Council.  That was December 1999. 
LCOHC has become strong in number and participate in many events throughout the year.  Our biggest event to date is the St. Jude Children's Hospital Benefit Ride.  Done each Spring for the past four years, we've ridden and we've collected thousands of dollars for this wonderful charity.  Another biggie is the Wagon Train Ride. Three days of riding throughout Lawrence County, via horseback or wagon.We also work with the Wayne National Forest in Ironton to maintain the trails and the camp at Paddle Creek.
This group has one thing in common (among others) and that is the love of horses and the people who ride 'em.
The State OHC Motto remains:  "Horsemen Helping Horsemen".  That's what we do.

From the Prez

I Want to remind everyone next month is our election of officers. Please come and cast your vote, or if you wish to be an officer please let someone know. Our election committee is: SARA WHITT  ,SUSAN WHITE  ,LOIS DELAWDER  .We would love to have your help keeping the club going strong.

On Sept. 21, about 1:00 PM we will be working with the rangers at Paddle Ck. Trailhead to fix the tie stalls, resetting our sign, and cleaning up trash . We want everything looking nice for the ST.JUDE ride on SEPT. 27. Bring your hammers, saws, power drills, power screw drivers, etc. We can use all the help we can get

For the ST.JUDE RIDE , the club will provide hotdogs and hamburgers. Please bring your drinks and a covered dish or dessert to share. There will be an auction after dinner. Due to other commitments , I will not be there , I wish everyone a safe ride, lots of fun, good food, and good fellowship.

Our next meeting will be Oct. 13th at the Snak Shak  in South Point @7:00pm
